International code for the identification of bank accounts. It consists of a maximum of 28 alphanumeric characters, in the Spanish case: two letters identifying the country and two control digits, followed by a second part that coincides with the old customer account code (CCC). In this way, the formats of bank accounts are unified between different countries. Since the introduction of the Single Euro Payments Area in February 2014, the IBAN replaces the CCC in financial banking operations.
